best siding cleaner
Definition of Vinyl Siding Cleaner

A vinyl siding cleaner can be described as a substance that is used to clean the outside of your home’s siding. Most commonly, these cleaners are utilized in order to rid outside of a home of dirt, grime, and other elements that may compromise its appearance. The cleaner can be applied in a spray, gel, or liquid form and will depend heavily on the preferences of the homeowner.

When cleaned with a vinyl siding cleaner regularly, your siding will reflect the appearance of your home’s interior. It is said that you can tell a lot about the inside of a house by simply looking at its exterior. The use of siding mold cleaner products increases the attractiveness and resilience to weathering of these materials.

In order to maintain maximum protection for your home, it is recommended to clean the outside of your home’s walls. It not only protects against dirt buildup but also protects against mold, mildew, and algae growth as well.

Most vinyl siding cleaners are formulated to work well with all types and materials of vinyl siding products. This makes them extremely versatile for anyone looking to keep their home’s protection system in top condition. Aside from ensuring that your home remains free from dirt, these cleaners also protect it from the elements such as rain, snow, and sunlight so that it looks good both inside and out year-round.

Types of Vinyl Siding Cleaner

There are several types of Best siding cleaners in the market. These come either as combination cleaner and degreaser, concrete cleaner and degreaser, or dedicated vinyl cleaner. You can use any of these siding mold cleaners to clean your siding depending on what you want to achieve by doing so. Many people use heat guns or some other equipment to remove stains but it may harm the composition of the vinyl sidings. Using a vinyl siding cleaner is the safest way to clean dirt from vinyl sidings. Here are different types of vinyl siding clears available in the market.

1. Concentrated Vinyl Cleaners

These are the most common type of cleaning products used for cleaning vinyl siding. The major problem with them is that they take a lot of time to dissolve completely on vertical surfaces hence require extra effort when scrubbing them off using a brush or sponge. Since they are very concentrated, you will need less quantity to do the job hence you will save some money in the end. However, cleaning your siding with them can be quite difficult because they take a lot of time to dissolve and may leave a white residue when rinsing off.

2. Ready-to-use Vinyl Cleaners

Instead of spending time dissolving these cleaners on vertical surfaces so that they can be easily scrubbed off, it is easier for you to use ready-to-use vinyl cleaners which are diluted versions of concentrated cleaners. They are cheaper than concentrated cleaner products but often provide low-quality results hence should only be used for small jobs.

These cleaners also ruin most brushes or sponges that you use while cleaning so purchasing new ones is necessary every time you clean with them. They also require a lot of rinsing hence your siding will take up to 48 hours after cleaning before it dries completely. The main advantage of these cleaners is that they do not require any extra effort when scrubbing them off vertical surfaces with a brush or sponge.

3. Dedicated Vinyl Cleaners

These manufacturers have produced products that provide excellent results in cleaning vinyl siding and they are not prone to causing fading, discoloration, staining, or streaking unlike other types of cleaners. The main advantage of these cleaners is that they do not require expensive equipment such as pressure washers in order to clean completely hence making them very inexpensive especially if compared to other types of vinyl cleaners.

They can also be applied on vertical surfaces without the need to dilute them hence they provide quick and efficient cleaning for your siding, even on walls that are at least 10 feet tall. However, since they are very concentrated and require the use of a pressure washer when used to clean large areas or long surfaces, it is important that you consider how effectively you will apply them in order to achieve good results.

It is also recommended that you test small spots before using these products so that the concrete surface will not become slippery which may cause accidents especially if you have pets or children who play outside your house regularly.

Application of Vinyl Siding Cleaner

Built-in Applicator

The built-in applicator on many pressure washers makes the process even more convenient. The wand is typically detachable from the machine, allowing for easy use with other products. Do not store the product in direct sunlight because heat may reduce its effectiveness.

Manual Application

If you do not have a pressurized stream of water available, try applying cleaner to your siding using an inexpensive pump sprayer. Fill the sprayer with warm water and add vinyl cleaner according to directions provided by the manufacturer of the cleaner or your local paint store, then apply liberally to the surface to be cleaned working it into a lather before rinsing thoroughly using clean hot water…

Pressure Washing

Pressure washing is also a great way to clean vinyl siding. First, use an extraction or soap and water solution (following the manufacturer’s instructions) to remove loose dirt from the surface of your siding. Then apply Vinyl Siding cleaner using your pressure washer set on low pressure. Use a soft bristle brush to help penetrate dirt and grime, then rinse thoroughly.

How It Works

How to Clean a Vinyl Siding

  1. Equipment You Need

Vinyl siding cleaning requires some simple equipment. The most important tool is a pressure washer, which should have at least 1,500 PSI (pounds per square inch). This is also known as GPM (gallons per minute) and will give you the power to clean your house’s vinyl siding thoroughly without damaging it.

Another key aspect of a professional-looking completed job is being equipped with excellent, high-pressure soap that can withstand jets of water from up close and more than 30 feet away. Get an inkjet or spray-type applicator instead of a brush for applying soap so you get an even coating on your vinyl siding, porch pillars, and trim pieces. The best (gallons per minute) of water flow. You also need a spray nozzle that shoots in fan style (this spreads the soap more evenly across the surface) or cone shape. An extension wand is also useful for getting into higher places, and brushes are good for tough stains near gutters.

2. Preparing your home

First, clean away any dirt or debris on the ground before starting to work on the siding itself. Be sure to get rid of all dust and dirt from inside your pressure washer too before spraying it onto the vinyl siding. To avoid damaging anything like window frames when you are using a power washer, cover them with plastic wrap to protect against stray water drops blowing off-target because of air current problems – which is common in most cases, especially when using a fan-type nozzle.

If there are bushes near the house then be sure to clear those by tying them up before working on your vinyl siding because you do not want water or soap hitting and damaging them.

3. Preparing your lawn

Before starting to wash down your vinyl siding with a pressure washer, it is best if you can prepare your lawn beforehand (early morning of course) so that the grass is still wet from dew and will not absorb as much soap afterward. Also, make sure that it has been watered for at least an hour prior to this process so that all dirt and debris are washed away into the soil – this prevents clogging of drains once you start washing your siding.

You need to have a hose that is long enough to reach all of the areas on your lawn that you wish to clean, and just spraying all over with water will flush out dirt and small debris into the grass (do not let too much soap run off onto your lawn as this will also kill it).

4. Personal Safety

Safety comes first – just like when using any power tools or equipment! When cleaning vinyl siding, do not use a pressure washer inside your house (this could be very dangerous if you are using frozen rinsing water) but instead take it outside so there is no risk of accidents. Also do not stand behind the nozzle for prolonged periods because this can cause serious burns – the soap and water mixture makes this dangerous, especially if it hits your skin.

In the case that you are using frozen rinsing water (which can give a “fine mist” effect), wear protective eyewear for safety. Another useful tip is to use a spray nozzle rather than a fan-tip nozzle because the latter will just scatter soap everywhere without giving as much coverage as desired – which may not be bad if you want to add some extra (rare) pressure washing on your vinyl siding in order to clean them with stiffer detergents or stains removers.

5. Setting Up

After cleaning off everything else around your home/property, lay down plywood or plastic sheets where you will be working so that you will not be standing on the dirt while spraying your siding with a pressure washer. This type of surface gives a stable area to place your soap, sprayer, etc., and lets you move around freely without worrying about stepping outside of the workspace for quick rinses or more soap/detergent.

Also, find out if there are any electrical wires in your work area because they don’t mix well with high-pressure water (this is important especially if you are planning on using frozen rinse water which can make them dangerously slippery).

6. Applying Soap

Before applying any detergent to vinyl siding, make sure that you have already tested this product first! Simply put some on a small section near the bottom of the siding (preferably a corner) to make sure that it does not cause any damage or discoloration when you are finished.

A heat gun can be used to help dry out stubborn stains (such as tar) and also assist in the cleaning action of detergent, although this method is usually not recommended by professionals if stains are already old since heating vinyl siding too much will break down the chemical composition in the material itself, which can lead to more damage than you expected. Because there are no waterproof caulk lines along your walls anymore, you should use an indoor/outdoor caulk for extra protection against other spills which may occur from time to time – this will also preserve its original appearance after many years of use.

7. Rinsing

The most important step is to make sure that you rinse thoroughly afterward because if soap remains on the siding, it will cause all sorts of problems (such as attracting dirt instead of repelling it, not to mention causing more discoloration in the future). Soap residue may also be harmful to plants and may just accumulate over time – so do yourself a favor and take off any excess detergent with a power washer before going back inside your home!

It makes sense to go over stained areas one more time after everything has dried in order to get rid of whatever remains. One last thing you can do is give your vinyl siding some extra love by rinsing with water (you can use your hose for this) and then wiping it off with a damp cloth to make sure that it is really clean. And there you have it!

How to Use a Pressure Washer to Clean Vinyl Siding

Pressure washers can be used to clean the siding of all types, but they work especially well on vinyl siding. The soft texture and smooth surface are ideal for pressure washing.

  • A pressure cleaner is powered by a water pump that pulls very high volumes of water from the household supply. It then transfers that volume of water through a narrow opening called a nozzle much like how your lawn sprinkler operates — only at much higher pressure. This results in a powerful jet of water capable of stripping paint or even removing concrete if applied incorrectly.
  • You’ll want to apply these high-pressure jets carefully so as not to damage your home’s exterior finish. Pressure washers are most effective when used on flat surfaces such as walls and fences, or even on vehicles like cars.
  • Using a pressure washer to clean vinyl siding is easier than you may think, but the trick is knowing how to direct the spray and what tools are needed. Most of these tools can be found in your garage or laundry room.
  • A safe place to power wash if you have young children or pets at home. If they can’t access this area, then it will be one less thing to worry about when using your pressure cleaner. You should also make sure that there are no trees or overhanging branches that could interfere with the flow of water from the nozzle directly onto your home’s siding.
  • Long-handled brushes are best used when applying soap directly onto trim work such as windowsills, door frames, and other edges where dirt can collect easily. Soap will allow the water to loosen up the dirt more effectively, making it easier to rinse off your siding.
  • Rags are helpful for soaking up extra humidity that builds up inside your pressure cleaner’s hose when you shut it down between jobs. This loose water can lead to rusting of your equipment over time if left unchecked. It is also a good idea to have plenty of rags on hand to wipe down surfaces after each washing session, as this helps prevent residual soap from drying onto walls.
  • Tape is helpful for marking critical areas that need extra cleanings, such as the edges of your home’s roof or other high-traffic areas. You can use masking tape to mark off places that you don’t want to risk damaging with the powerful spray from your pressure cleaner.

Buyer’s Guidelines

Buyers Guidelines to Buy The Best Vinyl Siding Cleaners

There are hundreds of different vinyl siding cleaning companies out there. So how do you know which one is the best fit for your home? You must first consider the following things:

1. Ingredients

What’s in the cleaner? Are you allergic to any of the ingredients? Is it biodegradable or does it do damage to plants, lawns, and aquatic life around your home? Does it contain bleach? If so, how much? Know this information before buying a cleaner!

2. Mold and Mildew Removal

This is one of the most important things to consider when buying a vinyl siding cleaner. Many people think they’ve cleaned their siding only to find that parts of it are still moldy. Look for cleaners that don’t just remove dirt but also kill mold spores and prevent future growth!

3. Application

How easy will this cleaner be to apply? Some cleaners require you to wear gloves while applying, some come with built-in applicators, and others require manual scrubbing with a brush! Each solution has its own advantages and disadvantages so be sure you know what method the cleaner requires before making your purchase!

4. Pressure Washing

If you plan on pressure washing your home following the cleaning, then you should choose a cleaner that is compatible with pressure washers. While most cleaners are, it’s important to look for one that says it’s recommended!

5. Built-in Applicator

This thing can be invaluable if you’re short on time or if you have difficult siding that needs access to otherwise hard-to-reach spots. Some of these applicators even let you apply the cleaner directly to your siding in order to avoid those awkward brush strokes and streaks marks! Look out for them at your local store!

6. Manual Application

If you don’t want any of the extra bells and whistles, then stick to a product that requires manual scrubbing. These cleaners are usually a bit cost-effective, especially if you plan on doing the scrubbing yourself!

7. Formula

What kind of formula is it? Is it thick or thin? Does it foam up when in contact with dirt and mold spores? Is it a rinse-and-dry formula that allows you to pressure wash your siding immediately after cleaning without having to wait for the cleaner to dry first? All of these things matter so be sure to look at them before hitting the checkout lane!

8. Environmental Impact

Many cleaners can be harmful to the environment, especially if you don’t use them properly. Be sure to look for a cleaner that is environmentally safe! This can include natural products like vinegar or lemon juice!

9. Smell
