DJI MAVIC Pro Review and Specification. Unmanned aerial vehicles or popularly known as Drone is widely trending these days for various reasons. Among them, photography or videography is one of the main reasons behind owning a drone. Though if you don’t need a drone for photography or videography purposes, you can own one to see the world from a bird’s eyes, just from the lap of the skies. Though the price is a bit higher you seriously can’t deny the usefulness and the fun with drones.

In this connection, I want to tell you that there are several kinds of drones available in the market. They come with different specifications, different price ranges, etc. Among them, DJI drones are considered bests. Today here, in this article I am going to discuss the details about the drone “DJI Mavic Pro”. If you are willing to buy this, I would request you to go through the full specifications and the pros and cons we are gonna discuss in this article. So, let’s get started DJI MAVIC Pro specification and get a list here.

DJI MAVIC Pro Review and Specification

DJI’s best selling drone ever. It is small, light, foldable, very capable, and, at least in our experience, very reliable. It wasn’t the world’s first foldable drone, but it was the first one that got (almost) everything right. DJI has sold thousands of them around the world and in the eyes of many, it has become the gold standard for foldable drones. The two-year-old Mavic Pro still holds its own against its much newer little brother the DJI Mavic Air and DJI MAVIC Pro Pros and Cons.

Design and Build Quality:

Measuring 3.27 x 7.8 x 3.27 inches (83 x 198 x 83mm; W x D x H) when folded up, the Mavic Pro looks downright adorable and has nearly the same size as a water bottle. DJI has also come up with a new ultralight and aerodynamic airframe that weighs only 743g. Compared to DJI’s past drones, it’s teeny at half the size and weight of the company’s flagship Phantom 4.

The Mavic Pro is the first DJI drone small enough to be thrown into a backpack or purse rather than a special hard pack specifically designed for it. This is all thanks to a new folding design in which the two front arms swing back while the rear limbs flip down and towards the quadcopter’s main body. Despite rotors being attached to articulating elements, the Mavic Pro feels solid. It takes a fair bit of force to position everything, but not enough to stop you from getting it set up in a minute.

DJI MAVIC Pro Review and Specification and features :

The Mavic Pro is a very capable drone. It features a 3-axis gimbal with a 12MP, 4K camera with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. With its (at the time) new OcuSync transmission system you can fly the Mavic Pro up to 4.3 miles or 7 km away and still have a 1080p/720p live video stream (when you use the 1080p live feed you will not be able to record in 4K). You can also fly the Mavic Pro straight from your Smartphone without the use of a controller, but your speed and distance (262 feet) will be very limited.

This functionality is only useful really for drones etc. The camera can shoot 12MP stills and record video in 4K resolution at 30 fps or 1080p at up to 96fps. The camera can also be rotated 90 degrees to portrait mode which is really useful for shooting panoramas where you want to stitch the photos in post-production later.

To focus your images, don’t forget to tap on the screen of your smartphone. The Mavic Pro has both GPS and GLONASS as well as downward and forward obstacle avoidance to help you fly your drone. DJI calls this Flight Autonomy.

The system works with the help of dual ultrasonic rangefinders at the bottom of the aircraft, five cameras, redundant sensors, and 24 powerful computing cores. Up to a speed of 22 mph, the Mavic Pro is able to sense obstacles in front of it up to 49 feet away. The drone’s top speed is 24 mph but can be flown much faster in sports mode. Then it can reach speeds of up to 40 mph.

DJI MAVIC Pro Camera Video and Stills:

The 28mm lens DJI has chosen for the DJI Mavic Pro finds a good balance between getting plenty in the frame without being too wide so that everything is distorted a bit too much – it’s actually a similar field of view to most smartphones, while the level of control to adjust exposure goes way beyond a simple point-and-shoot compact.

As well as being able to set white balance and ISO sensitivity (100-1,600) inflight, you can set the focus by tapping the screen and select whether you want to shoot JPEGs or raw files, or both, while shutter speed and aperture are relayed on the screen so you can gauge if you need to boost the ISO or not.

DJI MAVIC Pro Battery

The drone has a maximum flight time of up to 27 minutes but a little less in real-life situations. Despite its compact form factor, the Mavic Pro boasts impressive battery life and actually has one of the longest flight times we’ve ever seen in a quadcopter. It’s a bit of an oddity though — the rotor system is optimized for forwarding flight, so the drone can actually stay aloft longer in motion than hovering.

DJI claims it can maintain a hover for 24 minutes, but thanks to its aerodynamic design, it can allegedly stay airborne for 27 minutes if you “fly at the optimum speed for energy consumption.

Range

The DJI Mavic Pro comes with DJI’s new OcuSync video transmission technology, which stretches the drone’s maximum range and provides a 1080p/720p live video stream (when you use the 1080p live feed you will not be able to record in 4K a live HD video feed from the camera from up to 4.3 miles or 7 km away. That, however, is only possible in the most optimal conditions in our DJI MAVIC Pro Review and Specification test.
